This timber retaining wall was built using 8×8 pressure-treated lumber, reinforced with rebar, structural screws, and steel brackets—because these need to do more than just look good.
Proper prep. Solid structure. Built for the long haul.

This wall was in full failure mode… and we were able to give it a second life 💪

The original wall had started to give out due to poor drainage and saturated material behind it — something we see all the time around here with our freeze/thaw cycles.

For this repair, we:
…• Carefully dismantled and rebuilt the existing wall
• Brought in an additional pallet of river stone to properly rebuild and strengthen the structure
• Installed permeable separation fabric to prevent soil migration
• Added clean drainage stone behind the wall to relieve hydrostatic pressure and improve long-term stability

The result is a solid, clean rebuild that should perform the way it was originally intended 👍

Drainage is everything with retaining walls — if water can’t move, walls will.
