Drainage Done the Right Way 💧
When a customer calls us to fix undersized or improperly installed runoff lines (sump pump and gutter drains), we make sure the job gets done right.
What we don’t recommend:
🚫 Reducing 4" lines down into 3" (it restricts flow and …causes backups)
🚫 Using cheap black corrugated pipe (it crushes easily and clogs fast)
🚫 Mixing solid and perforated drains (they serve opposite purposes and can cause failure if combined)
🚫 Combining runs, unless water flow rates have been calculated. Majority of the time we recommend every line should have its own dedicated drain run.
What we do recommend:
✅ Using Schedule 35 SDR pipe for strength, durability, and smooth flow
✅ Keeping solid and perforated lines separate for proper function
✅ Positive grading a to protect the foundation of a home and reduce water intrusion
For this specific customer we also installed window wells, positive graded with a stone base (crusher run) for stability and to minimize settling. Lastly, we finished with topsoil, seed and straw for both erosion control and curb appeal
